Latest Trends in Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)

By John Black

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is an imaging technology that can analyze tissue structure to a depth of 1-2mm and an accuracy of 1 to 10 microns. It can be used to detect disease conditions that modify tissue structure like arteriosclerosis, glaucoma, tooth cavities, and Alzheimer’s that affects the optic nerve. It supports any procedure that benefits from real-time tissue structure information such as the accurate placement of a drug or device, or to assess treatment effects that change tissue structure such as cauterization or ablation.

What’s Your Patent Strategy?

By Shmuel Silverman

Most startup and mid-market CEOs are having a difficult time articulating their patent portfolio strategy, and an even harder time connecting a patent to their company’s value proposition.

The main reason for this phenomenon is that patents are typically associated with technology and NOT with business strategy. Why is that?

Will Your Device Be Hacked? Learn How To Design Secure Devices
7 PM Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati, – IoT & Wearable Devices Meetup, 650 Page Mill Road Palo Alto, CA

Product developers, designers, innovators, engineers join our expert panel discussion on the importance of security and the issues for wearable devices and IoT devices. These devices have very high-security concerns because they are not controlled, they move around, and they may not be on the person that is expected. The panel will advise what type of security is needed. For medical devices, end-to-end security is usually required, which means not only is data encrypted, but the user is positively identified, and data is protected from the device to the app or cloud storage. Software updates are another potential vulnerability. You will have an opportunity to ask questions of the panel to learn how to meet the level of security needed for your device.

The Security IoT Expert Panel will be composed of experts from TalaSecure, SecureRF, Springborne Life Sciences, and Xeeda.
