Optimized for Long Battery Life

Voler Systems and V2Solutions recently partnered to develop the hardware, embedded software, mobile app and website for a home health product. It required a small battery-powered device to transmit data to a mobile phone and website. The biggest challenge in this project was the battery life: how to maximize the length of time between charges given the anticipated level of use.

Walt Maclay Selected as Reviewer for SBIR/STTR Programs

Walt Maclay is honored to be selected as a reviewer for the National Science Foundation’s Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) programs. As a reviewer, Walt will be asked to assess the merits of grant applications for their technical feasibility.

The SBIR program accepts applications from small businesses across a broad range of science and engineering disciplines. If successful, they are granted up to $225,000 for a 6-12 month development/feasibility project. They may also apply for a second grant of up to $750,000 over a 2-year period, with the aim of advancing the technology toward commercial deployment. Small companies often use these grants for startup funding without giving up equity.

You can find out more about the grants at the National Science Foundation’s website
