Walt Maclay is honored to be selected as a reviewer for the National Science Foundation’s Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) programs. As a reviewer, Walt will be asked to assess the merits of grant applications for their technical feasibility.
The SBIR program accepts applications from small businesses across a broad range of science and engineering disciplines. If successful, they are granted up to $225,000 for a 6-12 month development/feasibility project. They may also apply for a second grant of up to $750,000 over a 2-year period, with the aim of advancing the technology toward commercial deployment. Small companies often use these grants for startup funding without giving up equity.
