Stanford University’s VLAB Meetings Highlight Trends
Walt Maclay recently attended two interesting VLAB panel discussions on “Wearable Devices, The Next Mobile Platform” and “The Uploaded Life: Personal Evolution Through Self-Tracking.” VLAB, a group that meets at Stanford University, is dedicated to promoting the growth and success of high-tech entrepreneurial ventures by connecting people, ideas, and technology. These two panels helped to crystallize my understanding of some trends in personal tools and medical devices as they transition from mechanical/optical to electromechanical to electronic/MEMS implementations. Presenting at PRG’s “Managing Design Risk”
Walt Maclay joins a panel of industry experts who will explore managing trade-offs and risks on performance, quality and costs. Successful new product development introduction (NPI) involves the art of balancing schedules, resources, and costs to enable products that launch on-time, with desired performance and at the right cost. The panelists will look at how to identify all the risks in development, and shares their knowledge of the latest emerging risks.
