Nitrogen Flow Monitoring for Stanford University | Voler Systems

Written by Walt Maclay | Oct 21, 2009 8:19:37 PM

Stanford University needed to monitor the use of Nitrogen used in exotic research in its physics laboratories in order to report actual cost on federally funded programs. The cost of the system had to be reasonable.

Voler installed a system to monitor the usage of gaseous and liquid Nitrogen at two laboratory buildings. Flow meters automatically record the use of gaseous Nitrogen. A fill station (see photo) records the use of liquid Nitrogen transferred to cryogenic bottles. The Nitrogen is weighed, and an account number is used to enable the filling equipment as well as recording the identity of the user.
